Road Safety Engineering – New safety scheme in Earlswood

http://wccroadsafetyengineering.wordpress.com/2011/12/14/road-safety-engineering-new-safety-scheme-in-earlswood/ As part of our ongoing commitment to road safety, and in partnership with the local community, the Road Safety Unit has now completed Phase 1 of a scheme aimed at reducing casualties a crossroads located in the heart of the ruralvillageofEarlswood. In the last 5 years a total of 12 accidents have arisen mainly attributed to vehicles failing to observe or appreciate the junction from the direction ofValley Road. Of these 3 resulted in serious injury, and statistically without intervention that overall figure would have continued at the same rate or indeed likely to have risen in future years.      Phase 1 focused on preventing the ‘see through’ affect drivers have when approaching fromValley Road, which in the view of the Road Safety Unit significantly  contributed towards drivers failing to observe the junction. A build-out on Umberslade Road has now been installed which

Parish Council Report November 2011

Please Note Parish Council Report Not Minutes The Parish Council met on Thursday 17 th November 2011 at 19.30 hours in Tanworth Village Hall. 12 members of the public, together with District Councillor Atkinson, District Councillor Oakley and County Council Perry were present at the meeting. Members of the public expressed their concern at the Parish Council’s decision to support keeping the lay-by open on the A435 by Alderhanger Lane .  One gentleman reported that whilst the lay-by was closed, residents were no longer subject to cars cruising up and down,  residents could resume dog walking without fear of seeing a sexual act taking place and fly-tipping had become non-existent.  Since the lay-by has re-opened fly tipping has resumed, the woods and verges are now used as a toilet, the ditches are damaged and the sexual activities have resumed. The site is now advertised on the internet as a D****** site.  It was felt that by supporting to keep the lay-by open the Parish Council w

Saving Energy

Well I was just cogitating on saving energy. I mean power electric power.  How many of us wind up an alarm clock.  How many of us over sleep because of a power cut.  How many of us actually need the power of an electric alarm clock How many of us need to tell the time whilst we are asleep. Bring back a wind up alarm clock a) Less working hours lost b) Help a little bit to save power Just a small thing we could all do to save power and electricity. It is not a lot for one family but how much energy would it save world wide?

Rude People

I just can’t get over how rude some people are. Recently at work we advertised for additional members of staff and were promptly inundated with applicants, so many people with so much to offer. Having sifted through the CVs which really wasn’t easy at all. Well in any case we eventually managed to get it down to a manageable amount of people  we wanted to invite forward for interview. On the bottom of the invitation to interview was a polite request that if applicants felt the role was unsuitable or had a change of heart about the job could they please let us know asap so as we could give someone else the opportunity to attend. Even after that polite request 2 of our applicants didn’t bother. a)     Showing up b)     Letting us know they had had a change of heart I really am so disappointed and annoyed that these two people denied someone else the opportunity of attending the interview and the possibility of a job. Why do people do this?
