Mike Downes Kenilworth

As I watch Mike Downes go Global I can’t help but admire him and wish him the best of luck.

Unlike so many of us Mike appeared to reach a point and then left Local alone. However on the other hand he has guided some of us to become Hyper Local with his skills knowledge alongside the determination to persuaded others to go Global.

As my local community leaders start to wake up and realise there is a need for their presence on the web, for content to be updated on a regular basis in order to keep people up to date. I find myself reflecting on why I started blogging and now what I want to do next.

So I sort of understand why Mike went Global but I still don’t think it is the right place for me.

I think I am going to go Micro Local and move on down instead of move on up.

I always was different.

However I would Like to say to Mike Downes Thank you so much for your tips and advice and well done for your achievements.

  1. Carrie,

All I know is, one evening I was sat looking for the second or third time at Google+ and what that was. The Hangout was the revelation as sitting chatting to up yo 10 people at a time, from all over the globe was so exciting ..

From there, I posted a few local photos and paid an interest in what News was to them. That lead me to Emmy Award winner Sarah Hill and appearing on her show in Missouri via Hangouts.

I quickly became the go to person for News .. Google reached out to me and asked for my help. I even chatted to Google+ boss Vic Gundotra ..

I did everything I could to educate the people close to me and how I had 550 Twitter followers against 23,000 at g+ ..

People learn at varying rates. New platforms are hard to learn, but with Google having up to 87% of Search, whatever you search for appears in Google Search Plus Your World ..

One wish, is more people in the UK will see the benefits and use G+ .. All I want to do is use it for good, for me the global people are my friends, I treat them as my locals..

To see the article about me, visit: http://goo.gl/aC0G4 and listen to the BBC radio interview too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxojePASohc ..

If anyone wants to chat, find me at google.com/+mikedownes

  2. Mike PC have just signed up to Twitter they have renewed their website and trying very hard to get the basics right. Problem is all us residents have got so use to sporadic communication most just gave up bothering. Some of us just kept chipping away, now the gap is to get the people with the know how that gave up and who use the web which ever platform to renew their interest in order to motivate our local organisations to continue updating. I also think there is a place for Google Plus. I just think of all the mileage it could save and how good it could be for the environment meetings etc the prospects for it are endless.

Crime Stats Alcester North October 2020

Well as crime has been on my mind for the last couple of weeks and it has always appeared difficult to find any meaningful crime stats. I have at long last found the information used by the Police lurking on the Police.uk website. It is not live data and runs approx 6 to 8 weeks in arrears for example October 2020 is now visible. This is a totally interactive tool, easy to use and has a great dashboard, what is good about this tool it also provides outcomes. The default is for the whole of the Alcester North area however it is simple to find out where the hot spots are and which crimes have been included. So for those of you keeping an eye on the stats this may well be the tool to use. To get to the information  just click the link  below Alcester North Crime Data
