Police Update

Following the reports I sent out earlier this week with regards to a theft of a vehicle in Cloweswood Lane and other crimes that were possibly linked. I would like to update you that the vehicle that was fitted with a tracker device has been recovered and 4 people have been arrested in connection with the offence, and investigations are taking place.

It has also come to light that other people also may have been victims of theft or attempted theft around this time however it was/has not been reported.

In order to get a more accurate picture of crime in the area, it would be beneficial if all crimes are reported to 01926 415000, Police attendance is not always required in response to a call, so do not think that it would be wasting Police time. If anything the opposite applies, crime mapping ensures that the correct amount of resources are available to an area to meet demand, also it allows the planners to organise patrol plans at the times offences are occurring to ensure officers are deployed in areas that offenders target at the correct time of day.

Crime prevention also benefits from providing specific advice to the type of crimes being committed in said area, prevention is better than an ensuing investigation.

The dormouse, reptile, bat and butterfly surveys will be continuing and we hope to undertake a bee survey as well but if you have any suggestions of the type of activities you would like please get in touch. Crime Stats Alcester North October 2020

Well as crime has been on my mind for the last couple of weeks and it has always appeared difficult to find any meaningful crime stats. I have at long last found the information used by the Police lurking on the Police.uk website. It is not live data and runs approx 6 to 8 weeks in arrears for example October 2020 is now visible. This is a totally interactive tool, easy to use and has a great dashboard, what is good about this tool it also provides outcomes. The default is for the whole of the Alcester North area however it is simple to find out where the hot spots are and which crimes have been included.
