A Week In The Garden

Well as you all know my photography and filming is not that good. I promise I am working on it. I have been spending my time clearing corners of the garden that had all but been forgotten about. In fact I am quite proud of my accomplishment. I am by no means finished, in fact I don't think the garden will ever be finished its just one great big constant merry go round, which to be fare has been left and got slightly out of hand for one reason and another. I personally am not one for straight lines and manicured gardens, I like the slightly wild and natural aspect where each corner holds a surprise and the unexpected reveals it self. Its each to their own and no one is correct. Anyway! you may be asking what has this got to do with wildlife, technology and fly tipping. To start off with I am no expert on wildlife, I just appreciate it and enjoy watching it when the priverlidge is available. The one thing I am aware of , is that from March to September hedges or trees should not be d...

Part 3 Vodka Bottle Saga

If it wasn't so sad it would be funny, I have made it one of my little missions in life to try and keep the grass verges and ditches free of litter. Just so it is not the task it was when I first did it. Obviously from a previous post you may have seen, I noticed the return of a vodka bottle. I hold my hands up I didn't pick it up there and then. I wasn't in suitable attire, had the dog with me and it was pouring with rain as it has been every day for ages. Any way on Monday 17th Feb I noticed my one lonely Vodka bottle had been joined by three friends however it was still

Continuing Mystery Of The Vodka Bottles

As those of you that may have read I decided to do something about the litter in the lane I live in may be a week or a week and a half ago. I almost filled one wheelie bin with litter and disregarded or lost items. Yes I took my wheelie bin down the lane. Like an idiot I started picking litter up at the top of the lane and not at the bottom. OMG!!!  that wheelie Bin got heavy. Next time I will work from the bottom of the lane up to the top As you may remember I was baffled by the volume of vodka bottles I found. By the time I collected and disposed of them there were approximately 20 Smirnoff No 21 bottles. On the grass verge and in the ditch, scattered at various different intervals, all on the same side of the road. Although I thought it was strange and perhaps thought oh well we have just been through the Christmas & New year season. No excuse I know! I couldn't believe it yesterday when yet again the Mystery Guest SMIRNOFF 21 made an appearance.  More than anything ...

Litter Update from 2010 with A Twist

The photo I took to the the left was taken in January 2010. Yes I may be moaning again but in January 2020 Ten years later I am absolutley appauled at the disrespect people in general have for Wildlife, Countryside, Places where other people live and generally don't give a flying S*** .  I am sorry if my  strong language offends. My circumstances have changed a little bit in the last 6 months, which is allowing me more time to take more notice of what is happening around me. With reference to litter The photo to the left is mild to what we suddenly have. Its OK to moan about it but what am I going to do about it. Motivated by my recent walk around Terry's Pool and the very hard work everyone concerned has done to make my experience a

Litterbug cops create eyesore

A TIDBURY Green man is fuming after a mountain of furniture was left piled up outside a neighbour’s home following a police raid. Mark Payton said that officers had scoured the address, in Norton Lane, a fortnight ago - removing belongings from the house. But after West Mercia Police had finished their search, carried out over several days, they left the possessions outside. A washing machine, fridge freezer and cooker were among the household items left out on the garden. <a target="_blank" href="http://ad.uk.doubleclick.net/click%3Bh%3Dv8/3ac9/3/0/%2a/i%3B235657823%3B2-0%3B0%3B59468476%3B4307-300/250%3B40946979/40964766/1%3B%3B%7Eaopt%3D0/ff/22/ff%3B%7Efdr%3D235706767%3B0-0%3B0%3B48876659%3B4307-300/250%3B40500089/40517876/1%3B%3B%7Eaopt%3D2/0/22/0%3B%7Esscs%3D%3fhttp://pfa.levexis.com/ancestry/tman.cgi/tmad=c&tmcampid=3&tmplaceref=1051573&tmclickref=pid_59468476-cid_40946979-aid_235657823&tmloc=http://www.ancestry.co.uk/s46861/rd....

Litter

I am at a loss to know where all the litter comes from we all have our designer wheelie bins now. It's not as if Mr Fox can empty them and then stand them back upright ready for the dustbin men. Whilst being a pedestrian I noticed the litter that adorned the hedge row and ditches. One presumes local residents wouldn't purposefully trog down the road willy nilly throwing their empties in the ditch especially when they have their friendly plastic wheelie mate closer to home. I've been at the verge pardon the pun of wheeling my plastic wheelie mate up the road and putting the litter safely to rest my self but Mr Wheelie Bin can't cope with the potholes and cambers and the pedestrian in me thinks don't take the risk. Where does the litter come from? Well here is the frightening bit! our Dustbin Men on the whole are careful may be the odd bit escapes the rubbish muncher occasionally. However our rubbish has a trend other than the odd crisp packet the rubbish is normal...

Potholes

I cannot get over the state some of our lanes are in. By far the worst is Wood Lane it may be in Earlswood but the responsibility for this road belongs to Solihull and the Highways agency. I avoid it at all costs and prefer to get to Earlswood Stores via Rumbush Lane and Norton Lane. So not only have I ceased being a pedestrian in the last couple of weeks I prefer to drive the long way around to get to the local shop, hardly environmentally friendly. I suppose the one thing the potholes do, is slow the traffic down- A bit like natural traffic calming. It's not just the potholes that are dangerous it's the cambers on the lanes. Lend me a pair of skis and I could quite happily ski down them. The cambers are getting steeper and steeper making our lanes narrower and narrower. If we are not careful we will become a one track village and all need 4x4s to get about or a bit of natural horsepower. I am torn between reporting potholes and dangerous roads or just leaving them...
